If we are successful in raising £5000 then the breast cancer care unit will spend the money on a -80degree freezer. Which will allow them to store blood and tissue samples from current and past patients. They currently are only able to store current patients blood and tissue samples due to lack of space and this additional freezer will allow them to store past patient's samples as well. Thus, making this their first step at becoming a blood and tissue bank for breast cancer research.

On the night, there will be social media experts on hand giving practical tips and advice from how to get started to how to boost your sales, all while raising money for breast cancer research.
The event is free and will include:

On Thursday, 24 March, the third annual Twestival charity event will kick off in more than 200 cities across the world, including here in Bishop's Stortford. Each event will be raising money for a good cause in its own area, and this year we're raising money for The Princess Alexandra Hospital- Breast Trials Unit.
Here are five ways you can get involved: 1. Attend or volunteer Bishop's Stortford Twestival is a networking event for charity and is taking place on 24 March at Lussmann's By The River in Bishop's Stortford. It will involve music, raffles, auctions, networking and other fun activities. All proceeds go to charity. Because the event is 100% volunteer run, if you have any spare time to donate and want to get involved, please contact us! At the very least, get a crowd of your friends together and come out on the day. Tickets will be £10 and go on sale February 28, 2011. 2. Donate online If you can’t make it on the day, you can still donate to Bishop's Stortford Twestival Local online. All you have to do is click the 'donate' button on this site to make it easy to give. Be sure to tick 'Gift Aid' since every penny helps! 3. Bid in our auction For the week prior to Twestival we'll be running an online auction via Twitter. Watch for #BStortTwestivalauction for valuable items up for grabs. Bidding will be closed at 18.00, 24 March and winners will be announced at Twestival. 4. Tweet your support Twestival isn’t just about raising money — it’s also about building awareness for the great work that Princess Alexandra Hospital- Breast Trials Unit carries out. The Breast Unit provides ordinary people with a chance to beat breast cancer by conducting clinical drug trials. 5. Donate raffle prizes and auction items. Raffle and auctions are really big earners, and we hope that the maiden Bishop's Stortford Twestival will be a success through the help of our raffle and auction. But we need your help. Please contact us with anything you'd like to contribute, and we'll be sure to include your name in all our online chatter.
One way to do that is to get involved with Twestival on Twitter. Start by following @Twestival, @BStortTwestival and our charity @PAHBreastTrials on Twitter. Then retweet anything you find of interest and would like to share with your tweeps. We'll have a fall wall at Twestival so you'll be able to see your tweets as they happen.

It will bring together the cream of the city's Twitterati for fun, frolics and fundraising (for this year's charity The Princess Alexandra Hospital- Breast Trials Unit). We're expecting up to 200 people to come, meet and mingle.
But the event won't be as magical without your help.
Bishop's Stortford Twestival is looking for support from local businesses and individuals.
We would love people to help us with sponsorship, cash donations, donations of prizes for a raffle, or even to help us lay on some great entertainment on the night.
Twestival is a great way to get your company's name seen by loads of the city's most influential, talkative and tech-savvy individuals. By getting behind the event, you will get some priceless publicity from The Herts & Essex Observer and visibility both in the virtual and real world. Plus you'll be helping a good cause.
If you want to help, in any way, please either leave a comment here or get in touch with Bishop's Stortford Twestival on Twitter or Facebook.
Alternatively, contact any of the Bishop's Stortford Twestival team, whose Twitter accounts are linked on the right of this page or email us at twestival.stortford@gmail.com
Go on. You know you want to.
Want to help BStortTwestival raise an extra $1000 for The Princess Alexandra Hospital ?
All you have to do, is “like” the Bishop's Stortford logo in the Facebook albumTwestival Logos from Around the World 2011.
The city with the highest number of Facebook “likes” on their actual Twestival Local Logo image, will be awarded a $1000 donation to their charity recipient.
At the time of writing this blog post, the leaders are Barcelona (24), Ljubljana (44), Penang (53), Honolulu (61) and Milan (69) so we have a bit of catching up to do!
It will take just a couple of minutes to “like” our logo, and spread the word about the competition. If enough people do it, we could raise an extra $1000 dollars for The Princess Alexandra Hospital- Breast Care Unit. Simple.
This year’s BStortTwestival logo was kindly designed by Logoglo and features some of Bishop's Stortfords iconic landmarks - the corn exchange and St. Michael's Church. In case you didn’t know, this is the very first Twestival to take place outside of a major city. And it's happening right here in little ol' Bishop's Stortford, so please show your town your support. You can find out about the competing cities here Twestival official events.
The deadline for the competition is March 17th 2011.
P.S. $1000 dollars is approximately £615 if you were wondering :)
With only 24 days to go, I'm very happy to report that we have a great group of people working very hard to make this a successful year for the Bishop's Stortford Twestival.
The response since starting on this journey one month ago has been tremendous! People are coming out of the woodwork to help and spread the word and we all greatly appreiciate it!
